    1686, 10 Sept: Will of John Reed, carpenter in Christ Church Parish. Nephew George Reed at 21, wife Martha Reed, son Robert Reed, daughter Betheris Brookes. Proved 15 Dec 1694. (RB6/11)

    (Research):Will of Richard Read written 23. August 1640 and proved in Barbados on 19. May 1654, refers to a brother Burnell Read, gent., of Hannam, co. Gloucester, as well as to a brother John Read of Barbados, and to sugar in the storehouse of his kinsman Maj. John Read, as well as sisters Marie and Elizabeth.

    1641 Ref. RB3/1/950 George Read and John Reece indigo makers agree to utilise 25 acres for indigo on behalf of Oliver Reed, merchant of London.

    1641 Ref. RB3/1/948 George Read and John Ryce, indigo makers lease 100 acres from Richard Estwick on behalf of Henry Sweet, merchant and Oliver Read, merchant of London.

    1644 Ref. RB3/1/478 Notice signed by George Read that he releases to Richard Gawde the fourth part of an indigo work in his possession. This seems as a result of a suit since it is referred to as an award made November 16, 1643 by Capt. John Reade, Capt. George Sanfast,Mr. Alex Lindsay and Mr. Robert Jenning. It states that George Read died October 2,1644. So the signatory is the second George Read.

    1651: Will of John Brombie: Dep. 17 Sep 1651, George Reed age 24 and John Xirton age 36: "At the time that John Brombie was mortally wounded by Thomas Scott, etc. he bequethed to his fa Thomas Brombie." Proved 19 Apr 1652. (RB6/11)

    1667 RB3/7/18 Capt. George Reade, gent. and his wife Mary of St. Andrew sold to John Reed of St.Michael, merchant 40 acres plantation in St. James for 50 000 lbs of muscovado sugar.

    1667 RB3/457 John Reed merchant of Bridgetown sold to William Dollathy of St. James, gent and his wife Elizabeth 40 acres plantation bought from Capt. George Reade of Overhills,St. Andrew the same day for 60 000 lbs of muscovado.

    1668 RB3/7/228 John Druce sold to George Reade, gent. of St. Andrew 33 acres bounding Reade's land. Witnesses: John Merrick, Robert Gibbs, Benjamin Fadlutt.

    1668 RB3/7/196 James Thorpe sold George Read and Mary Reed, son and daughter of George Read decd. of Overhills, St. Andrew 70 acres bounded by George and Mary's land.

    1669 RB3/6/477 Francis Chamberlain sold George Reid, gent. of Overhill, St.Andrew, 9 slaves and 12 acres of land. Witnesses: Richard Penfold and Richard Nowell.

    1669 RB3/6/476 Benjamin Fadlutt, acting as Marshall sold to Capt. George Read of Overhills one acre late of William Druce bounding Reade's land.
