2. | Judge James Hughes Bradley was born 22 Aug 1821, Randolph County, IL (son of James Henry Bradley and Martha Hughes); died 29 Aug 1888, Jackson County, IL; was buried , Desoto Cemetery, Desoto, Jackson County, IL. Notes: James enrolled as a Private in Co A, 18 Regiment Illinois Infantry on 15 Aug 1862 to serve three years or during the war. He was discharged on 8 July 1865 at Little Rock, Arkansas by reason of expiration of term. His physical characteristics included: height 5'10", fair complexion, blue eyes and light hair, and was by occupation a lawyer. On Feb 25 1876 he applied and recieved an invalid pension for necrosis of the lower jaw. On the 16 January 1886 he gave a deposition in regard to the invalid pension of Leander Bradley, his cousin. At that time he stated that his occupation was that of lumberman and his address was Grubb's Post Office in Jackson county. He was a lawyer professionally and an ultra prohibitionist. 4. | James Henry Bradley was born 13 Jun 1797, Concord, Cabarrus County, NC (son of Joshua Bradley and Nancy "Ann" Gardner); died 15 Mar 1866, Jackson County, IL; was buried , Gillespie Cemetery, Randolph County, IL. Notes: Shortly after his birth the family moved to Gallatin, Sumner County, Tennessee. On 29 September 1814, James enlisted as a private in Captain Thomas Scurr's Company, 2nd Regiment of Tennessee Volunteer Mounted Gunmen. This regiment was commanded by Colonel Thomas Williamson and fought under General Coffee's command during the Battle of New Orleans. James was discharged on 27 April 1815 at Nashville, Tennessee. James received a land grant for 80 acres of land under the Act of September 1850, and located it in Jackson County, Illinois. James moved near Shiloh Hill in Randolph County, Illinois Territory in 1817. James married Martha Hughes 28 Nov 1820, Randolph County, IL.
