In the name of God Amen, I Joseph Morse of Carteret County, being weak in body but clear in mind . . I give to my wife, Blandinah, the plantation household furniture, oxen, tools , cattle, hoggs, the middle marshes and all the things that go with my plantation during her life or widowhood, and I expect her to bring up and see to the schooling of my children. To son Daniel one blaze faced mare, one cow and calf and he to have the plantation at the death of his mother. I give to son George, the lands I bought of John Fulford. I give to my daughter Mary Harris one ewe and lamb. To daughter Elizabeth Morse one bed and furniture. To daughter Sarah one Negro girl named Chain. to daughter Ann a Negro girl named Annis. I give to daughters Susannah, Hannah and Alice the moneys arising from the sale of my Negros and my part of Carrot Island. To brother James my right in 50 acres of land on the banks. I give to my brother Theodore Morse, the plantation where he now lives that fell to me by my father. Wife Blandinah and friend John Easton executors.

Whereas Daniel Lynard, lately decd, left three children at his death vis: Mary Blandiana, and Elizabeth, and Mary is since dead, and by desire of the said Lynard's wife, who survived her husband, the court appointed that John Shackleford Sr. should take Blandiana and Edward Shepard should take Elizabeth. This court hath ordered that the girl Blandina be and is bound unto the said John Shackleford according to act of assebly, and that Elizabeth be and is bound unto the said Edward Shepard and that the said Shackleford and Shepard take the estate of the said Lynard into their hands and sell the same at Public Venue and pay such lawful debts and charges as is due from said estate and make return of the account of all this proceedings to the next court. The aforesaid Shackleford and Shepard to give security in the sum of ten pounds proclamation money.

HOPE DEXTER ESQ, CAME INTO OPEN COURT AND ACKNOWLEDGED A DEED TO JOSEPH MORSE FOR SIX AND A HALF ACRES OF LAND LYING ON THE MOUTH OF TURNERS CREEK, WHICH SAID LAND THE SAID DEXTER PURCHASED FROM JOHN SHACKLEFORD JR.

WILLIAM OWEN, ONE OF THE SUBSCRIBING EVIDENCES TO THE FOLLOWING DEED, CAME INTO OPEN COURT AND MADE OATH THAT HE DID SEE JAMES SHACKLEFORD SEAL AND DELIVER A DEED UNTO JOSEPH MORSE FOR TWENTY ACRES OF LAND ON THE WEST SIDE OF NORTH RIVER AND THAT HE DID SEE JOSEPH DOTY AND JOHN SHACKLEFORD EVIDENCE THE SAME AND ORDERED TO BE REGISTERED.

Linyard's wife, before her death, asked that the middle child be bound to John Shackleford, Sr., and the vestry approved. Richard Rustell agreed to take the youngest girl, and the vestry ordered the churchwardens to find "some careful person" to nurse the oldest girl

Ordered that ye afsd Garrison to have liberty to plant Tend & Gather Corn on ye Said plantation dureing the time they Keep Garrison there as afsd." John was appointed to see "Every ship drawing eight feet of water anchoring at the Banks and Shackelford Banks to charge three shillings six pence per foot."

To my daughter Sarah, wife of Joseph Morse, cows and the right of Joseph Morse to whale and use my boat upon payment to my wife Ann, during her lifetime.
