  • Notes
    • Occupation:  Lebleu'scher Hofmann
    • (Research):Ulrich Claudi was a native of Switzerland and was born there in about 1620. In 1654 he married a girl whose name we don't know, the couple lived near the town of Marburg and had a little daughter.  Anyhow he deserted from his family and met Elisabeth Fröhlich, and this couple lived somewhere until 1665 when Ulrich became an administrator of an estate (farm) in Dietzenbach built by Mr. Johannes LeBleu of Frankfurt who was a wealthy businessman.
At that time Ulrich had 10 children, 9 boys, 1 girl. However, he was not married, and at 1677 neighbors revealed that this couple was not married and information was given to the authorities in Babenhausen.
Therefore he was imprissoned for 18 weeks in a small room in a tower. Then the Earl/Count of Hanau ordered him to get married at once, and on July 3rd    1677 Ulrich and Elisabeth were married at Babenhausen when all people of Dietzenbach are said having been witnesses there. The 10 children were given the status of legitimate children. But Ulrich was fined a considerable sum (since the Count was always short of money).
I think Elisabeth herself had informed her neighbors of their illegitimate 'marriage' because she'd rather like to be married as her neighbors were.
Ulrich died  in about 1690 but not in Dietzenbach. Maybe he became sick had moved to a reformed town.  Elisabeth Claudi died 1712 in Dietzenbach.  His son Joh. Georg became his successor as a administrator of the farm.  He was married  19. Mar 1734 to Catharina Kloßmann.  Their oldest son was Balthasar who had 4 daughters which is our shared line.  Nobody knows where his siblings have moved.  Attached is the church book record of 1677  written in old style German.   (Email from Heinz Hang dated 18 Aug 2006)
