  Arrived in NY on 23 May 1883 aboard the ship "California" (Research):Had a brother, Christoph Gustav Priebe who was born 1 May 1838 in Bromberg, Posen and who died 28 Nov 1917 in Jackson County, Illinois. Christoph came to the U.S. around 1872, but I've not found him in the passenger lists.
