- Orzella "Orzie" Jemas Beloved wife and best friend to Edward Jemas, peacefully passed away in their San Jose home on January 1st, 2009. She was a devoted wife, a caring mother and loving grandmother. Orzella is survived by her husband, Ed, of 52 years, her children, Lisa Avery and Tom Jemas, daughter-in-law, Jaya King, and adoring grandchildren, Lindsey and George Nijmeh and Aaron Jensen with his fiancé Laura Cannon. Orzella was born on June 23rd, 1931 to William and Nancy Pogue, and raised in Rogersville, Missouri. The small town afforded Orzella a joyous childhood among her 8 siblings. She attended school in a two-room schoolhouse in the modest town and soon learned that friends and family would be her closest and dearest treasure. When Orzella was 25 she moved to California. There, on Labor Day weekend in 1956, "Orzie" met "Eddie". A whirlwind courtship ensued, and just two months after their first date they tied the knot. Not long after their marriage she gave birth to their two children, Lisa and Tom. After Ed left the navy the family moved to Northern California and settled in San Jose. She worked for the Evergreen School District as a media clerk for over thirty years and accumulated countless friends and colleagues. Retirement brought to her more time to spend with friends, family, children and especially her cherished grandchildren. Throughout her life Orzie devoted herself with endless love to her family and friends. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in the name of Orzella Jemas to the Cystic Fibrosis Research Inc (CFRI) in Mountain View http://www.cfri.org/home.html. Memorial service will follow; friends and relatives will be notified by the family.
