- 16 May 1646: Richard Whitehurst elected and confirmed by the Norfolk County Court as constable for the Eastern branch.
Richard Whitehurst received 250 acres in Norfolk County, VA on 20 Oct 1648. Land described as on Gaythers Creek of the South branch of the Elizabeth River. Land gained for transportation of 5 persons: Andrew Nicholas, his wife Elizabeth, Andrew, William and Elizabeth his three children. [Cavaliers and Pioners, patent Book No. 2, page 179] Land later assigned to Thomas Alexander by R. Whitehurst. [Cavaliers and Pioners, patent Book No. 5, page 540]
Richard Whitehurst received 300 acres in Lower Norfolk County, VA on 15 Mar 1649. Land described as on the Swd side of the Ewd branch of Elizabeth River, running S.S.W. on land of John Godfrey through the main poquoson, N.N.E. to a point on the Wwd side of the Church Creek. Granted to Thomas Davis in 1637, assigned to Lawrence Peters and purchased by R. Whitehurst. [Cavaliers and Pioners, patent Book No. 2, page 188]
Richard Whitehurst received 700 acres in Lower Norfolk County, VA on 22 Nov 1651. Described as at the head of the Indian Creek beg. near a great swamp running N by W thence W by S by Lintons land and cross the Indian Creek by a small branch thense S by E towards the great Swamp. For transportation of 14 persons. [Cavaliers and Pioners, patent Book No. 2, page 222] Land later went to his son William.
