  (Research):When found in the UK, Gough and Gooch are considered Welsh, with Gough being found mainly in the English border counties with Wales - Shropshire, Herefordshire and also Wiltshire. It means red haired or red faced. The earliest record is found in Cheshire - Robert Gough 1327. Gough is the anglicised version of Gooch.
