      Henry Jefferis of Wodstock, oxon, gent aged 30, deposes that he was lately servant of Philip Pierson, scrivener, who dwelt in Fleet Street, London, near the house of John Bannister, grocer, brother of Alexander bannister who died overseas, The said John bannister brought to Pierson a deed of 27 September 1644 listing the third part of 10, 000 acres in barbados granted to Alexander bannister and co. by the Earl of Carlisle and delivered by lot to Captain william fortescue./ Copy of the deed annexed shows allocation of land to; Mr. Perkines;Captain David bix; Mr. Robert greene; William Evans; Captain john Swann; «b»Henry Hunt«/b»; william Tratle; Philip Palfrey; Marmaduke Baldricke; Captain Mathew Wood; James West and partners; Thomas Warmall; Thomas Clewes; John Ruberry; Henry Ferris; Old Curtis; john shawe; Barnard Jennett; thomas Farnell; Charles Pladwell; Robert Herreidge; Edward Devall. Edward Mannison of St. George, southwark, Surrey, merchant aged 36, deposes that he received this deed from John Bannister deceased when he was about to go to Barbados a year ago to enquire about his estate.       Baptismal records show that John Davenport, son of John (who would be the great-grandfather of the Pioneer), was baptized the 11th day of April, 1605, at St. Margaret's Parish Church, in the Borough of Barking, Essex county England. It is also recorded that John Davenport sailed from Gravesend Dock, England to Barbados Island, on the ship "Expedition", carrying 205 passengers, in 1635-his age was 30. Gravesend Dock is about 18 miles from the church where he was baptized. «b»In Barbados, John married Mary Hunt, daughter of Henry Hunt, also in Barbados and about 1670«/b» , they arrived in Westchester County.
