Notes - (Research):The story told to me by my father was that Maggie was high school sweetheart with Walter Wine, but then he went off to WWI and was reported KIA. She then married George Schaeffer. After the war Walter Wine returned as he'd only been badly injured (gassed) and not killed. Maggie then left George Schaeffer and married Walter.
Another version comes from Myrthel, she said that George was not a good man and treated Maggie badly, Maggie then left him and later married Walter.
Since Russell Schaeffer was born in 1911 it would appear that Myrthel's version makes more sense.
