- Although information is limited for this family while in Illinois, two land records exist showing that James and Jane sold land in Jackson County in March and April 1852. It is thought that this was just prior to their move west. Along with Jane's siblings, Alfred, Barsheba, and Henry G., they traveled west about 1853. No more is known of James after the sale of land in 1852 but Jane and her daughters were living near Lewiston, Trinity County, California by 1870«i»
