Sheriff inquired of Thomas Peerkin and Edward Gibbs whether rents for 7 years would pay debts and damages. On order of another writ, Sheriff sold property to Benjamin Brown for 85 pounds. Witness John Bell and Thomas Chapman. Acknowledged 5/14/1768.
This must be Joseph's father Joseph, married to Sarah whose estate was administered in 1773. This sure looks like it probably set this family back. No wonder poor Joseph Jr. was searching for units to serve in the Rev. War so he could get some cash, and then looked to get out of Delaware as soon as he could after that.
This does tie Joseph Greenwood to Jonathan Greenwood since there is a deed where Jonathan bought 50 acres which involves a Rawlings in 1743. Not sure if this is one you found while we were in Dover or not.

In this set of books on Google Books, there are lots of mention of Phineas, Jonas (he was a surveyor), etc. I'm wondering if some of the references to Jonathan may show John as his name. In his estate administration which I looked at in Dover it was titled Jonathan, but on down in the thing it says John. Anyway, I'd like to look at the listings for John closer to be sure they refer to John the son of Jonas.
