      In the name of God Amen, I Joseph Morse of Carteret County, being weak in body but clear in mind . . I give to my wife, Blandinah, the plantation household furniture, oxen, tools , cattle, hoggs, the middle marshes and all the things that go with my plantation during her life or widowhood, and I expect her to bring up and see to the schooling of my children. To son Daniel one blaze faced mare, one cow and calf and he to have the plantation at the death of his mother. I give to son George, the lands I bought of John Fulford. I give to my daughter Mary Harris one ewe and lamb. To daughter Elizabeth Morse one bed and furniture. To daughter Sarah one Negro girl named Chain. to daughter Ann a Negro girl named Annis. I give to daughters Susannah, Hannah and Alice the moneys arising from the sale of my Negros and my part of Carrot Island. To brother James my right in 50 acres of land on the banks. I give to my brother Theodore Morse, the plantation where he now lives that fell to me by my father. Wife Blandinah and friend John Easton executors.
