    Markkötter = a poor farmer who's land consisted of a small plot within the "Mark" [village boundaries] with a small cottage on it. Generally, a Markkotter's land was not of adequate size or quality to support his family and he had to supplement his farming income by doing some other type of work.

    A good person.  nicknamed "Seitz-Maria" as she worked as a housekeeper for the Seitz family in Bramsche for many years.  She had an illegitimate child with Heinrich Wilbrand Pörtener named Julianna Margaretha.  [Seitz family is that of Heinrich David Seitz who was born in Osnabruck, but moved to Bramsche where he was a Kaufhandler.  He died in 1820)
