    William and family moved to Shelby Co KY about 1807 then on to Lawrence Co Indiana with other members of the family. Said to have arrived in Indiana in Nov of 1811 and founded the town of Leesville, named for wife Leah. They had a Mill on Guthrie Creek. There were 13 children.

    William FLYNN and Leah SPEAR were married about 1782 in Surry County, North Carolina.14 Leah SPEAR was born about 1760 in Lunenburg County, Virginia.14 She died in 1853 in Lawrence County, Indiana.

    (Research):Served in Capt. Ratcliffs Company of Volunteers from 19 Apr 1836 to 1 Sep 1836. This was during the war between Texas and Mexico. His widow recieved 1280 acres in Bounty Land in Goliad County, TX.

    Found info on a Capt. Wm. Ratcliff's San Augustine Volunteers joined up about 1 Apr 1836 and arrived late for the Battle of San Jacinto on Apr 21st. Not sure if this is the same unit or not.
