Cartrite County and In the State of North Carolina. I Joseph ROADS, Being sick in Body but of perfect
mind and Sound in Memory and calling to mind the mortality of this life and
knowing that it is appointed once for all men to Die. I do constitute and
ordain this my Last Will and Testament in the manner as followeth, first of all
I give and recommend my soul into the hands of almighty-God that gave it and my
Body to be Dissrectly Buryed at the Discression
of my Executors in a Cristin Like Manner and as touching such Wordly Goods as
it Bin Please God to Bless me with I give in the manner as followeth. I
constitute an appoint my Beloved Elisabeth as my hole and Soul Executers after
paying all my just Debts-first of I give as follows to my Beloved son John
ROADS, Junr. Gave and bequeath one shilling sterling of my Estate and to my Daughter
Mary ROADS to her I gave and bequeath one shilling sterling of my Estate and
now to my Dearly Beloved wife Elisabeth her I gave and bequeath all the remains
and reminer? Of my estate both loyal and personal during her natrel Life or
widowhood and at her descese to my Grand Daughter-Mary WEEKS the wife of
Willebe PRESCOST I gave and bequeth to her all my Lands and stock of ever kind
and my house hold furniture to be equally Devided betwist my five Grand
Children the heirs of my Daughter Mary WEEKS and Jabus WEEKS, Junr. I
constitute and appoint him an Executor also with Beloved wife Elisabeth ROADS
and I do finally Revoke and Disamel? And Disalow all
other wills before by me made and do only acknowledge this my Last Will and
Testament.
In Witness wheorof I have
hereunto set my hand and fix my seal this third day of April and ad? my? 1789.
