In the name of God Amen I David Russell of Carteret County and State of North Carolina being week in body but of sound and perfect mind and memory. Blessed be God for the same do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form as follows that is to say
Item - I give and bequeath unto my beloved son Habbakkuk Russell one piece of land where he now lives which I bought of Wm. Fisher & all the lands belonging to me ajoining it. To him and his heirs forever.
Item - I give to my three sons William Russell, Nevill Russell, & John Russell my old plantation where I now live with all the lands adjoining to be equally divided between them. I also give to my son John Russell one negrow boy by the name of Glasgow & one cow & calf one feather bed & furniture forever.
Item - I give to Nevill Russell one negrow boy by the name of Ben one feather bed & furniture.
Item - I give to my beloved daughter Elizabeth Russell one negrow girl by the name of Alce one feather bed & furniture forever.
Also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebikah Russell one negrow girl by the name of Grace one cow & calf one feather bed and furniture.
I leave two negrows to wit: Lou & her young child to be sold to pay my debts also all my property not given away to be sold and after paying my debts the balance to be divided amongst all my children. Lastly I do nominate and appoint my three sons Habbakkuk Russell, Wm Russell, and Nevill Russell executors of this my last will and testament. Revoking and making void all other wills by me made acknowledging this only to be my last will and testament in witness where of I have hear unto set my hand and seal this 27 January 1813.

State of North Carolina Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions of the County of Carteret, February Term 1813
This written paper was then exhibited into Court and proved by oaths of William Simmons & William Taylor two of the subscribing Witnessess hereto, to contain the true Last Will & Testament of David Russell Senr. Decd. who comprised in their oaths their belief that the Testator was at the time of signing & publishing the same in his right mind & that they saw William Hill Junr. & Habbakkuk Russell Senr. sign the same with themselves as Witnesses by direction of the Testator.
