Instantly killed by a fall of slate at the face of his working room. The slate that fell on deceased was 20 feet long, ten feet wide, and from eight to ten inches thick. The room had been mined and coal blasted down. This was a case of waiting to load the coal and then timber the place, as the deceased had remarked that he would timber the room as soon as the coal could be loaded and taken out of the way. Messino was careless in not timbering his place in time. |
